Top Hat Tackle was founded by Ryan Casey in 2020. Ryan has been creating custom lures since an early age. Ryan's dad taught him to fish at a young child. They would frequent ponds and the Roanoke River, especially during the Shad and Rockfish (Striped Bass) run of the Spring. That hobby quickly transformed into a passion. During Ryan's teenage years, he would spend countless hours on the Roanoke Rapids Lake in North Carolina chasing largemouth bass. Ryan experimented with numerous lure configurations, often melting different plastics together to make new actions, or combining lures with toothpicks. Ryan went on to fish on the FLW Collegiate Tour for Wake Forest University. He had a successful collegiate career including 1 win, 1 2nd place, numerous top tens and 3 qualifications for the Regional Championship. After college, Ryan continued bass fishing while managing a professional career and growing family. Ryan decided to start Top Hat Tackle to enable anglers the opportunity to purchase quality hand tied jigs and other tackle to maximize the time on the water - eliminating the frustration of broken rubberbands on lure skirts and low quality components.
